Resume vs Job Description
How well does your resume match the job?
Paste a job description and add your resume to see your match score, the skills and keywords you're missing, and what to prepare for the interview.
Add your resume and a job description to see your match score, the skills and terms you're missing, whether you meet the experience asked for, and the topics to prepare for the interview.
How the match works
The comparison uses fixed rules, not an AI model: it only finds what both texts actually contain. A missing skill may simply be worded differently, so read the results as a checklist, and only add skills you genuinely have.
- Skills
- We look for around 90 common skills (with variations such as PostgreSQL for SQL) in the job description, then check which of them appear in your resume. This is 70% of the match score.
- Key terms
- Other words the job description repeats are checked against your resume, allowing for different word forms. This is 30% of the score.
- Experience
- The years the job asks for are compared with the time covered by the date ranges on your resume, counting overlapping roles once.
- Interview topics
- Topics are based on the skills the job asks for. They are areas to prepare, not questions from the company's interviews.
