Your details
How it's calculated
- Gross salary is before your PF contribution, professional tax and income tax. Use the CTC to In-Hand calculator for take-home pay.
Formula
- Gross fixed salary = CTC − employer PF − gratuity − other benefits − variable pay
Gross salary is the salary your employer pays you before any deductions. It excludes employer-side costs that are part of CTC, such as employer PF, gratuity and insurance.
This is exact for the figures you enter. Take-home pay is lower: see the CTC to In-Hand calculator.
Worked example
₹15 lakh CTC with ₹1.5 lakh variable pay, ₹64,800 employer PF, ₹26,000 gratuity and ₹15,000 insurance.
- Gross monthly salary (fixed)
- ₹1,03,683
- Gross fixed salary (annual)
- ₹12,44,200
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between CTC, gross and in-hand salary?
CTC is the total cost to the employer. Gross salary is what you earn before deductions. In-hand salary is what reaches your bank after your PF, professional tax and income tax.
Is variable pay part of gross salary?
It is paid as salary when it is paid, but because it is not guaranteed, this calculator shows fixed gross separately from gross including variable pay.
